Well it's hard to believe that we have been here a week already. Slowly settling in. We were notified that our shipment arrives August 30. Not sure if that is the day it arrives in port or the day it is estimated to clear customs. I am told that it takes about a week to clear customs. It will be interesting to see if all the food we sent makes it through customs!
Randy left on another business trip last night. He will be gone until Friday. Since we arrived he has spent 3 days here (out of 10 days - as of Friday)! Hope this is not a sign of things to come.
Today Daniel and Amy were trying to set up the Wii and they blew a fuse. I had no idea where the fuse box was, so I called maintenance. I was quite embarrassed when he opened the box right near the front door. In my defense, it was above my head so I never saw it. While he was here I had him look at the stove. I have only been able to light 2 of the 3 burners, with a little patience. But I could not master the middle one. So with a lot of hand gestures, we understood each other. He "told" me that it wasn't working and he would report it. Or at least that is what I think he said/gestured!
Spent the day ironing all the clothes we brought with us. I had to buy hangers so this is the first chance I have had to iron. I also spent part of the morning cleaning the vent in the kitchen. Chinese fry a lot of food, so the vent was covered in grease. I managed to get it clean and it looks a whole lot better.
Because I do not have a dryer, I have to hang my clothes outside on the drying rack I bought. It has been so humid out that the clothes are not drying even after being outside for 6 hours. You would think that with all the heat it would dry, but it doesn't.
It is very hot and humid here. The temps are in the mid to upper 90's and very, very humid! I was told it is like this for all of August. Yuck!
1 week down 259 to go!
