China - Day 6, Monday

The glass doors at the entrance of our building.
You must have a card to get into the building
and to use the elevator

Amy and Daniel going out side

Looking up at our building. Our apartment is on the right.
Fourth floor - the one with the open window. Daniel's room
is to the right of the open window. The open window is our
Storage room. Then our heater/air conditioner. The next
window is our kitchen, then it is the hallway with the
elevator.

The walkway to the right when you come out of our
building. They have this kind of decorations all around.

One of the sidewalks. There are trees and bushes
everywhere.

For those who know me well, you know how much I recycle. I was very
upset when I got here and I was told not to seperate our trash. Today as we
were touring, we came across this area. They bring the trash here and people
sort through all the trash and recycle it. I think I might sort my trash from
now on!

Beautiful landscaping!

1 of 4 playgrounds we found. Daniel enjoying the playground

This is at one end of the complex, but you can not see the whole thing in
this picture.

Thought this was kind of neat. These are pipes, etc and they
planted bamboo around it to kind of hide it.
All around the complex you find these rest areas with chairs to sit. You
also find many water sections. Do nto know what to call them. They are not
fountains.

A barbeque area for anyone to use.

I tried to get a picture of four older people playing a game of
mahjong, but it didn't come out to well. But I did get a nice picture of Amy!

This is the main gate to come into the complex. There are guards posted on
both sides and gates across the road. When you drive in (with a taxi) you must
show your card. The guard then uses a remote to open the gate. Same when you
leave the guard must let you out, it does not open automatically.

The main entrance. People gather in here. This is where
Daniel will be picked up and dropped off for school.

These signs are everywhere t shows you which direction to go for your apartment. There are 3
sections: 1299, 1399 and 1599. We are 1599 building 23. From here we would right. In the
complex there are 83 buildings, each building has 26 floors, each floor has 2 apartments for a total
of around 4316 apartments. You would think with that many apartments it would be loud and busy. But
as you can see from the pictures, it is very quite.

Behind the main building. Scupltures, water, landscaping everywhere. To the left of the picture you can see what looks like
a gate going across the walk. It is actually a maze to go through, sort of. It is meant to keep the bikes out of this area.

Another way of blocking the paths from bikes.

This is the way they deliver packages and mail.

Another nice area to sit

More Sculptures

This is one exit to the street. It is a turnstyle. You need to use your card to exit.
Can't see it in this picture, but there is a guard shack to the left.
The glass windows on the right is "City Shop" which has all imported
items. I can get a lot of things I might need, but at a price.

They are picking up the trash from the buildings. In every building there is a trash can on every floor in the stairwell. These people must go to every trash can and collect the trash. They do this a couple times a day. Remember there are 83 buildings. Then they take it to the area that I showed you earlier.

This area is all wood on the ground
(there are multiple areas with wood - each is different).
They do Tia Chi in these areas

The details on the planters. So pretty.

Another wood walkway

Love the wood on this walkway!

Security cameras around the perimeter

This is the activity building, where management is. The building
also has a pool, spa, hair dresser, racket ball, movie theater, pool tables, badmitten
court, pingpong, restaurant, childrens activities and more.

The bridge to get to one of the sections, where the
outdoor pool is

The outdoor pool. There is that wood again!

Another shot of the pool

Another playground
Not sure what this is, maybe for shade, maybe a walkway. But pretty.

This is an orange tree. I think it is decorative. Hey
Randy, here's your tree!

This is looking at the complex from the bridge. Our building
is on the right, fourth one in.

An electrial fence around part of the complex

This is part of the playground we see out our window. There is also a zip line on the other side.
When we walked over there to take pictures, we met a bunch of English
speaking kids. So I asked them where they go to school. None of them attend the
school Daniel will be attending. They are all Daniel's age (9 going on 10 they all told me).
I introduced them to Daniel so that maybe he will start making some friends.

We walked around the whole complex. It took us about 3 hours. Of course we stopped and had lunch at the restaurant. For living in a city, this area is very quiet, peaceful and beautiful!
