China - Day 35, Tuesday

We have been here 5 weeks today. Time keeps moving on! We'll be back in Westfield before you know it.

This morning I had  a meeting at Starbucks in Green City about 15 minutes away. It was for the 4th Grade Room Parents. There were 17 of us there. I am amazed at how many parents are involved. My guess is that is because so few trailing spouses work here, they have the time to volunteer. Although most of the working expats are men with trailing wives, there are a few trailing husbands too.

At the meeting we talked about the activities coming up for the next month. I think I am going to be busy. I am trying really hard to not volunteer all my time away. When my shipment gets here I plan on doing a lot of scrapbooking. So when I go to meetings I am trying to sit on my hands. Because I have a really bad habit of volunteering A LOT. I know that some of you are having a hard time believing that! But its true. ;)

After the meeting I went to the store PINES. It is another store that carries a lot of imported items. I found Pringles for Daniel. We bought the Chinese version before but it defiantely was not the same. Plus the Chinese version they have seaweed and shrimp flavor among others. YUMMM.

Cultural Differences/Frustrations 101: It is really wierd having a driver. Not so much the driving part, but everytime I come out of a store with a bag Richard runs up to carry them for me. He always jumps out of the car to open my door. When I am some place he just sits and waits for me to be done. I feel really uncomfortable having him wait on me like that. At home when I carried bags in from the grocery store I was lucky if anyone would get off the couch to open the door for me!
