Happy New Year to all! 2012 already - didn't we just celebrate 2000! Where does the time go?
For those who notice - I have changed the title of my blog from a day counter to a week counter. It might be a little easier for me to keep track of the weeks instead of the days.
As you know we traveled home for Christmas and New Years. We left Shanghai on December 15. We picked Daniel up from school a little early and went straight to the airport. We flew to Indiana first to see my mother and sister. Randy and Daniel arrived in Massachusetts on Sunday and I followed on Wednesday. On Thursday I went with Amy to Worcester State University to sign up for her classes and make sure everything was done. I enjoyed spending the day with Amy.
Friday and Saturday I ran around getting ready for Christmas. As I said to my friends from Shanghai - like a chicken without a head which is obviously not the Chinese chicken. We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas, then after Chirstmas we ran around buying everything we needed for China, mostly food (poptarts, Keebler cheese crackers, granola, candy, brownie mix, muffin mixes, etc). I did buy sheets for the beds, because the sheets I can buy in China are not fitted.
We attended the wedding of Randy's cousin, Ray, and his bride, Linda, on New Year's Eve. On Sunday we spent the day packing and enjoyed dinner with the family.
All to quickly we were heading to the airport for the long trip back to China. The van service picked us up at 3:30am on Monday morning. Everyone woke up to say goodbye. It was very hard to leave again. We flew to Chicago then on to Shanghai. Our flight left Hartford at 6:20am Monday morning and we arrived to Shanghai at 3:30 on Tuesday, of course that does include the 13 hour time change - but it is still a long day.
Daniel went back to school on Wednesday and Randy returned to work. I spent the day unpacking and trying to figure out where to store everything we had brought back with us. We had 5 large suitcases, 1 large box, 3 carryone suitcases, 2 backpacks and a large canvas bag filled with stuff.
One thing that we brought back with us was a mattress topper. I have mentioned that the mattresses here are very hard, so I ordered a Serta 4-inch memory foam mattress topper. I put it on the bed and I haven't slept so sound in years. I have always woken up with back and hip pain, even in the US. The first morning with the mattress topper I woke pain free! Love it!
I will try to update my blog at least once a week. I will not be writing it daily because I do not want to write about the same things. And like you, I have developed a routine that doesn't always have new things happening. But I know that there is still plenty more to write about in regards to our wonderful adventure in China. Coming soon - Chinese New Year!
Wishing everyone a wonderful, healthy New Year.
