I have been having Chinese lessons each week. I have mastered the numbers and time. I can ask "How much does it cost?" (Duo shao qian) I know how to say "I want to go...(Grocery store, school, hospital, home) (Wo qu... chao shi, xue xiao, yi yuan, jia). Also "Go straight" (E ge zuo), "Turn left" (zhuang zhuo), "Turn Right" (zhuang you). I am starting to feel a little more at ease. I have a long way to go before I can hold a conversation, but now when I hear people talking I am able to pick up a few words!
Daniel finished up soccer last weekend and basketball this weekend. Now we may have some free time to tour a little. Around Shanghai there are many Water Towns. I have heard they are very interesting to see, so hopefully we can get there My camera broke, Richard has taken it to get repaired, hopefully it is fixable!
Here is this week's Cultural Differences/Frustrations 101: Take a look at the pictures.
This is a person who does street cleaning. They all have this type of cart to put the leaves and trash in. And they all wear orange or blue uniforms.
Workers outside a shop doing morning exercises.
Multi level highway
A bride having her picture taken. Brides and grooms have a huge photo shoot before the wedding and they show it at the wedding in a slide show.
This is the road driving out to Daniel's school. The tan stuff on the side of the road is rice they are drying for rice wine! Randy said that explains a lot!
When driving round the city, it is common to see laundry drying out on the streets. Here are blankets out at street level.
Hanging laundry - not sure how they hung it up!
Hanging laundry in front of store
More laundry out on the street
Laundry on a busy street in French Concession.
