China - Day 56, Tuesday

We have been here 8 weeks today!

Yesterday Veronica and I went shopping to buy gifts for my family in Germany. We leave Saturday to go to Germany for the week. My mother is German so Daniel and I will be visiting with my family while Randy is in Belgium for work. We went to the Fake Market and got some very nice things to take with us.

Veronica called me and asked me if I would like to go on an adventure today. She told me to wear some old clothes. We picked up a couple of friends of hers and we drove over to Puxi.

We went into a very old area to an antique market. The building was stacked floor to ceiling with stuff. We definitely needed old clothes. We also sprayed ourselves down with mosquito repellent - good thing! We carried a flashlight with us so we could see into all the nooks and crannies! Antique hunters would love this place!

Some of the things stacked in the building. Very narrow isles, and tons of dust!

Tables, many abacus, carvings, tin train (green), and  more stuff

Tables, stools, dressers, red drums, etc. To the right you can see all the
trunks stacked tot he ceiling

Chairs

All Dressers were filled with stuff. Had to look everywhere.

Trunks anyone - there were 100's stacked to the the ceiling!

Buddha head, Veronica actually bought this for her garden! It is huge.

I

Veronica bought the Buddha head, Maura bought a huge drum (see the picture with the red drum - except it is about 6 times as big). This place will repaint it and deliver it to her house for her. The other woman bought a basket and a box she wants for a sewing kit. I bought 3 things.

Blue Urn I bought for decoration

Brass dragon I bought Daniel. I cleaned it a little,
but as you can see it still needs work. I need to
find some brass cleaner, This should be gold,
but I do see some painted areas also. Will be
interesting when I get it totally clean.

Pretty wooden basket. The color looks a little orange in the picture, but it actually a light mahogany color. Not sure what I am doing with it. Might use it for plants or magazines.
Will see.

After Daniel got home from school we had to go to an Orthodontist appointment for a consultation. They do want him to start with his braces. We will meet with the orthodontist towards the end of October to see what he suggests. The orthodontist is US trained. I have talked to other parents and they are very happy with him.
