We spent the day trying to call Continental Airlines to reschedule Amy's flight. Amy finally got through late in the afternoon. The first flight she can take is Saturday, Sept 3! Also spent time trying to find out how things were at home after the hurricane! Glad to hear most people faired well. The pictures on Mass live and the news stations are amazing.
I walked down to the management office to ask for someone to come and fix the hot water. We were getting hot water in our shower, but everywhere else the water was luke warm at best.
I also wanted to again ask to have the caulking on the sink replaced because of the mold that was left by the previous tenants. When the maintenance man came in he fixed the hot water. Then I took him into the bathroom and tried to gesture that I wanted the sinks rechaulked. He tried to gesture an answer. I finally called Mrs. Gan in Beijing to ask her to translate for me. He said that he could not do it during hours but he would come back after 5pm and do it for me for 100RMB ($15). I would pay him directly. I am thinking "are you kidding - I might have you re-caulk the entire house for that price!!", but I just agreed to the 2 sinks. He did a wonderful job and my sink finally looks clean!!! YEAH!
