So today being Sunday, Randy and I headed off to Church. We had a paper that was given to us when we visited a Church recently. I handed that to the taxi driver who did not know where it was. So while Randy was asking the guard outside our complex, another taxi driver asked us where we were going. We showed him the paper and he said he could take us. We changed taxis and off we went. After driving a lot longer than we expected, he pulled up in front of a church that was definitely not a Catholic Church (It was called Thanksgiving Church). Apparently the paper just had the name of the church, not the address. So the taxi driver got on the phone and called the main office to find it for us. By this time it is 20 after 10 and Mass begins at 10:30. After discussing it with the office for 5 minutes we told him to just take us back to the apartment because we knew there was no way he would find it in 5 minutes. So another week goes by without Mass :( !
We met with a driver today. His English was great. It would be very easy to work with him. We talked about his service and he showed us the car. A mini van. We will have to submit the proposal to the company and see if they will pay for it. They have agreed to pay for a driver for 6 months.
Today's: Cultural Differences/Frustrations 101: When we got back from our adventure of looking for a church, we decided to go to the bank to add Randy to the account that I opened last week and get him a debit card. When I opened the account I had asked if I could add Randy later, and the teller had said yes. We filled out all the paperwork, took a number then went to the teller. After trying to explain what we wanted, he told us that you can not have joint accounts here. We would each have to have our own account. So now we have to figure out what to do. I think that is very strange that a couple can not have a joint account!
